By building and observing a motor that converts electrical energy into motion, students discover and explore first-hand several key properties of electricity and magnetism. Set-up is a snap. Current supplied by a D battery (sold separately) creates a magnetic field around the coil, causing the coil to push away from the ceramic magnet in the base and spin as long as current is present.
